Put together a municipal food scraps program and a local horse farm using a hemp byproduct for bedding and it produces a high quality compost used at local organic farms. Come tour the site and learn about the future of hemp in the Hudson Valley and its additional applications in building materials and erosion control.
This free site visit will be led by the farmer who owns the horse farm, his partner representing their innovative hemp business, and a representative from the Village of Rhinebeck's Climate Smart Task Force, that spurred the municipal compost program as a hyper-local, climate-friendly way to reduce food waste.
