While renewable energy has become the most affordable and fast-to-install energy source, it still faces backlash on aesthetics, and there is growing opposition to solar development by outside companies in the home-rule culture of rural New York. This event will convene artists, landscape architects and solar developers to think creatively about how to change the narrative by designing solar installations (at any scale) that are beautiful and designed based on community choices. Participants will learn first-hand about the extensive possibilities for integrating art with solar installations and building design through Land Art Generator’s gallery of over 200 designs and years of experience. The presentation will be followed by an interactive session exploring the possibilities for solar/ art integration on the Comeau Property and other Woodstock venues.
